Ingredients

Meat

  • 1 lb flank steak or skirt steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Vegetables

  • 1 red bell pepper red bell pepper (thinly sliced)
  • 1 green bell pepper green bell pepper (thinly sliced)
  • 1 medium yellow onion yellow onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)

Spices and seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lime juice of 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

For serving

  • 4 pieces warm flour or corn tortillas
  • to taste sour cream (avocado, salsa, or shredded cheese)

Instructions 

  • Slice the steak thinly against the grain and season with spices.
  • Cook the steak in a hot skillet with 1 tbsp olive oil for 2–3 minutes per side, then set aside.
  • Sauté peppers and onions in the same skillet until softened and lightly charred, about 4–6 minutes.
  • Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds, then return steak to skillet.
  • Pour lime juice over everything, toss, and cook for 30–60 seconds. Garnish with cilantro, then serve with tortillas and toppings.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the steak with spices and lime juice for 30 minutes before cooking.
