These delightful maple pecan scones are quick to make and perfect for a sweet breakfast or snack, featuring a rich glaze and crunchy pecans.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup heavy cream (plus more for brushing)
  • 8 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk (for dough consistency)
  • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
  • ¾ cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Mix dry ingredients and pecans, then combine chilled cream with melted butter. Add to dry ingredients, knead briefly, shape into a circle, cut into wedges, and brush with cream.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden. Meanwhile, prepare glaze by heating maple syrup, butter, and brown sugar, then whisk in powdered sugar and vanilla. Drizzle over cooled scones.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the dough to keep scones tender.
