These delightful apple scones are topped with a sweet cider glaze, making for a perfect fall treat that's quick and easy to prepare.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 tablespoons butter (divided, some melted for dough, some for glazing)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 medium Gala or Fuji apple (diced) (about 1/4-inch pieces)
  • ¾ cup apple cider
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for glaze)
  • 3 tablespoons sugar (for glaze)
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (for glaze)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add diced apples and stir. Combine heavy cream with melted butter, then add to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  • Scoop dough onto prepared sheet in 1/4-1/3 cup mounds. Brush with cider glaze, bake for 15 minutes, then brush again and bake 5 more minutes. Cool before serving.

Notes

For best results, use cold heavy cream and fresh apples.
