Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 2-quart casserole dish.
Mix dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, sugars, spices, and cloves.
Combine pumpkin, milk, melted butter, and vanilla; add to dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
Pour batter into dish, top with sugar-cinnamon mixture and pecans, then pour hot water over top without stirring.
Bake for 40 minutes until set. Cool slightly before serving with optional ice cream or whipped cream.
Notes
For best results, use aluminum-free baking powder and fresh spices.
