No-Yeast Flatbread Cooked On The Stove

This quick and easy stove-top flatbread requires no yeast and comes together in minutes, perfect for wraps or sides.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or a 50/50 mix of all-purpose and whole wheat)
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup plain yogurt (Greek or regular) or milk/water as a substitute
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (plus a little extra for cooking)

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder, dried herbs, butter for brushing, or ghee (optional)

Instructions 

  • Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and optional herbs in a bowl.
  • Stir in yogurt and olive oil; add water if dough is dry or more flour if sticky.
  • Knead briefly until smooth, then rest covered for 10-15 minutes.
  • Divide dough into 6-8 balls, roll into 6-7 inch rounds, about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Heat a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat, cook each flatbread 1-2 minutes per side until golden.
  • Stack and brush with melted butter or ghee; serve warm.

Notes

Keep the dough covered while resting to prevent drying out.
