These adorable mini Black Forest cakes combine rich chocolate, cherry filling, and whipped cream for a delightful treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup hot coffee (or hot water)
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Filling & Topping

  • 1 ½ cups cherry pie filling or homemade
  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp Kirsch (traditional) (Optional)
  • 1 ½ cups cold heavy cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: 2 tbsp cream cheese for stability (Optional)
  • Fresh cherries with stems for the perfect look

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Prepare a pan with parchment and whisk dry ingredients.
  • Add wet ingredients and hot coffee; mix until smooth. Bake for 12–15 minutes, then cool.
  • Use a round cutter to make 12 circles. Whip heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  • Assemble each cake: place a chocolate circle, add whipped cream and cherry filling, then top with another circle and more whipped cream. Decorate with chocolate shavings and cherries.

Notes

Ensure whipped cream is stiff for stability, and chill the assembled cakes before serving for best results.
