A flavorful one-pan dish combining seasoned ground beef, rice, and cheeses, finished with fresh herbs and a buttery, creamy sauce.
Ingredients
Meat and Aromatics
1
lb
ground beef
(Lean preferred to reduce excess grease)
1
cup
rice
(Uncooked long-grain white rice)
1
cup
cheddar cheese
(Freshly shredded for a smooth melt)
1/2
cup
Parmesan cheese
(Grated)
1
medium
onion
(Chopped finely)
2
tbsp
fresh parsley
(Chopped, for garnish)
1
tsp
season salt
(Savory base flavor)
1/2
tsp
black pepper
(Freshly ground)
4-5
cloves
garlic
(Minced)
1
cup
milk
(Whole milk yields the best texture)
1
tsp
thyme
(Dried)
1/2
tsp
smoked paprika
(Adds a subtle, warm color)
2-3
tbsp
butter
(Divided use)
2
cups
beef broth
(Provides the simmering liquid)
Instructions
Melt 1 tbsp butter in a skillet, cook beef and onions for 5-7 mins until browned.
Add garlic, thyme, paprika, season salt, and pepper; cook 1 min until fragrant.
Stir in rice and beef broth, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer 18-20 mins.
Stir in remaining butter, milk, Parmesan, and cheddar; cook uncovered a few mins until creamy.
Remove from heat, sprinkle parsley, and serve warm.
Notes
Rinsing the rice helps prevent a gummy texture and ensures it absorbs the broth well.
