A flavorful one-pan dish combining seasoned ground beef, rice, and cheeses, finished with fresh herbs and a buttery, creamy sauce.

Ingredients

Meat and Aromatics

  • 1 lb ground beef (Lean preferred to reduce excess grease)
  • 1 cup rice (Uncooked long-grain white rice)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (Freshly shredded for a smooth melt)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (Grated)
  • 1 medium onion (Chopped finely)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (Chopped, for garnish)
  • 1 tsp season salt (Savory base flavor)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (Freshly ground)
  • 4-5 cloves garlic (Minced)
  • 1 cup milk (Whole milk yields the best texture)
  • 1 tsp thyme (Dried)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (Adds a subtle, warm color)
  • 2-3 tbsp butter (Divided use)
  • 2 cups beef broth (Provides the simmering liquid)

Instructions

  • Melt 1 tbsp butter in a skillet, cook beef and onions for 5-7 mins until browned.
  • Add garlic, thyme, paprika, season salt, and pepper; cook 1 min until fragrant.
  • Stir in rice and beef broth, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer 18-20 mins.
  • Stir in remaining butter, milk, Parmesan, and cheddar; cook uncovered a few mins until creamy.
  • Remove from heat, sprinkle parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Rinsing the rice helps prevent a gummy texture and ensures it absorbs the broth well.
