A delicious tart combining crisp apples, sweet toffee bits, and flaky crust for a perfect dessert.

Ingredients

Apples

  • 4-6 large tart apples such as Granny Smith
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbsps cornstarch or all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (15-oz box), softened as directed on box
  • 1-1/3 cups HEATH BITS O' BRICKLE Toffee Bits (8 oz pkg.), divided
  • 2 tsps granulated sugar, divided or white decorator sugar crystals
  • optional sweetened whipped cream or ice cream

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel and slice apples thinly; toss with sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon.
  • Unroll pie crusts onto ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle 1/3 cup toffee bits on each crust and press lightly.
  • Arrange apple slices in a spiral on each crust, overlapping slightly. Top with remaining toffee bits and fold edges over apples. Sprinkle edges with 1 tsp sugar crystals.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until crust is golden. Cool slightly before serving with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.

Notes

For best results, use tart apples like Granny Smith for a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness.
