A delicious tart combining crisp apples, sweet toffee bits, and flaky crust for a perfect dessert.
Ingredients
Apples
4-6largetart apples such as Granny Smith
1/4cupgranulated sugar
2Tbspscornstarch or all-purpose flour
1/2tspground cinnamon
1packagerefrigerated pie crusts (15-oz box), softened as directed on box
1-1/3cupsHEATH BITS O' BRICKLE Toffee Bits (8 oz pkg.), divided
2tspsgranulated sugar, divided or white decorator sugar crystals
optionalsweetened whipped cream or ice cream
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel and slice apples thinly; toss with sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon.
Unroll pie crusts onto ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle 1/3 cup toffee bits on each crust and press lightly.
Arrange apple slices in a spiral on each crust, overlapping slightly. Top with remaining toffee bits and fold edges over apples. Sprinkle edges with 1 tsp sugar crystals.
Bake for 25-30 minutes until crust is golden. Cool slightly before serving with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
Notes
For best results, use tart apples like Granny Smith for a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness.
