A simple and delicious homemade fig butter made effortlessly in the crockpot, perfect for spreading or adding flavor to your dishes.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 3 cups fresh or dried figs, stemmed and chopped
  • 0.5 cup apple cider or apple juice
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch salt

Instructions 

  • Chop fresh or dried figs and place in crockpot.
  • Add apple cider, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir well.
  • Cook on low for 6-8 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Puree the mixture until smooth, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • Cool, transfer to jars, and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
