Delight in these warm, tender baked apples topped with a sweet cinnamon-oat crumble, perfect for a cozy dessert.

Ingredients

Apples

  • 3 medium firm, sweet apples (like Honeycrisp or Fuji)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (plus 1 tablespoon for apples)
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/8 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • as needed Vanilla ice cream and homemade caramel sauce (optional for serving)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking dish with non-stick spray.
  • Cut apples in half, core, and arrange in dish flesh side up.
  • Sprinkle 1 tablespoon brown sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon over apples.
  • Melt butter, then stir in flour, oats, remaining cinnamon, salt, and brown sugar to make topping.
  • Divide topping over apples, cover with foil, and bake 25 minutes. Uncover and bake 20-30 minutes until tender and browned.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream and caramel for extra indulgence.
