Enjoy these warm, spiced pumpkin scones with a sweet maple glaze for a cozy treat.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned & leveled)
  • 2.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1.5 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter (frozen)
  • 0.33 cup heavy cream (divided)
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup canned pumpkin puree (blotted)
  • 0.5 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional topping

  • to taste coarse sugar (for sprinkling)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 0.33 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar (sifted)
  • pinch salt (to taste)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C). Line baking sheets with parchment or silicone mats.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. Grate frozen butter into mixture and combine until pea-sized crumbs.
  • Whisk 1/3 cup heavy cream, egg, pumpkin, sugar, and vanilla. Mix into dry ingredients until moistened. Form into a disc, cut into 8 wedges.
  • Arrange scones on baking sheet, brush with remaining cream, sprinkle coarse sugar. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
  • Meanwhile, melt butter and maple syrup, whisk in confectioners’ sugar and a pinch of salt. Drizzle over warm scones.

Notes

For best results, serve warm and enjoy immediately.
