Ingredients

Cake Batter

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee cooled
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Frosting

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp brewed coffee
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 8-inch pans.
  • Mix dry ingredients; whisk wet ingredients. Combine and pour into pans.
  • Bake for 30 minutes; cool for 10 minutes. Frost and layer the cakes.

Ensure cakes are completely cooled before frosting for best results.
