A rich and decadent chocolate cake infused with espresso, filled with creamy mocha frosting, perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

Cake ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar (granulated)
  • 7.5 oz cake flour
  • 0.25 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1.5 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Frosting ingredients

  • 0.5 cup whipping cream
  • 2 cups whipping cream
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tsp instant espresso powder

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour cake pans.
  • Mix dry ingredients, add eggs, milk, oil, vanilla; stir in boiling water.
  • Pour batter into pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Whip cream with sugar and espresso powder to make mocha frosting.
  • Spread frosting between layers and over the cake. Decorate as desired.

Notes

Ensure not to overbake to keep the cake moist.
