Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Filling & Topping

  • 1 cup store-bought caramel sauce
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup toffee bits or crushed toffee candies
  • ½ cup chocolate chips for topping

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease, flour, and line two 9-inch pans with parchment.
  • Mix dry ingredients, then add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat for 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water until thin.
  • Divide batter into pans and bake for 30 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Heat caramel sauce and heavy cream until smooth. Spread half over first layer, top with second layer, then remaining caramel.
  • Sprinkle toffee bits and chocolate chips on top. Let sit for 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Ensure the cake is fully cooled before adding caramel to prevent melting.
