A moist and rich chocolate banana cake that's easy to make and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp Dutch cocoa powder (or additional cocoa powder)
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt

Wet ingredients

  • 0.67 cup water
  • 0.67 cup sugar
  • 0.33 cup mashed banana
  • 0.25 cup coconut oil (or almond butter or additional banana)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F) and prepare an 8-inch baking pan.
  • Mix dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powders, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add water, sugar, mashed banana, coconut oil, and vanilla; stir until just combined.
  • Pour batter into pan, sprinkle chocolate chips on top, and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Cool completely and let rest for several hours for best flavor.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder to the dry ingredients.
