This high-protein pasta bake combines lean beef, cottage cheese, and Italian cheeses for a hearty, satisfying meal that's easy to prepare and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Meat and Sauce

  • 1 1/4 pounds ground sirloin or lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, divided
  • 32 ounces marinara sauce
  • 1 pound high protein pasta, such as rigatoni or farfalle
  • 1 1/2 cups small curd cottage cheese or whipped cottage cheese
  • 3 cups shredded Italian blend cheese

Garnish

  • to taste chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet.
  • Cook beef with onion, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper, and 1/4 tsp garlic powder until browned. Add marinara and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Cook pasta until al dente, drain, and mix with sauce. Spread onto prepared baking sheet.
  • Mix cottage cheese with 1 cup Italian cheese, remaining salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Dollop over pasta and top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden around edges.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle with fresh parsley before serving.
